Course Summary

The class is designed to accommodate a wide ranging student base with varying degrees of Windows 2000 experience and the technologies upon which it depends. It addresses many core competencies and balances the learning time between hands-on and theoretical tuition. The course utilizes hands-on instructor led exercises based on realistic deployment scenarios. Detailed information regarding the “behind the scenes” activities of Windows 2000, Active Directory and the processes that maintain it is provided. The level of knowledge gained gives participants the necessary configuration and administrative skills paramount to the successful use of Windows 2000 in a corporate environment.

Upon completion of the class, students will be able to:

§         Install Windows 2000

§         Configure a Workgroup or Domain

§         Manage Users and Groups

§         Configure and manage network printing

§         Secure Data using NTFS and Shares

§         Secure network resources using Group Policy

§         Understand, configure and implement a routed TCP/IP environment

§         Install and configure DHCP services

§         Install and configure WINS services

§         Manage access to data using DFS

§         Install Active Directory

§         Remotely Administer Windows 2000

Classroom Dynamics

The learning environment is highly interactive and geared toward real world product usage employing a balance of detailed architectural information and practical design and configuration scenarios. Students are continually tasked with simulation exercises and work individually or together as a team in order to achieve a pre-defined objective. The class provides a forum that allows the students to put into practice many of the advanced technologies discussed throughout the training program. Course progression and content depth are tailored dynamically.
